Disaster!

I had a glass of water with my dinner, and it tasted like Adelaide water.  Actually, it tasted worse than Adelaide water.  I used to rather like drinking Adelaide water (It’s an acquired taste.  One acquires it in order to gross out one’s friends.  Well, I was a teenager…).  This tasted like a swimming pool.

Why am I making such a fuss about a glass of water? Because I poured it five minutes after measuring out water for my sourdough and mixing it in.   Which means it’s very possible I just fed my sourdough highly chlorinated water.

And my sourdough is not bubbling.  And it should be by now.

I have a horrible feeling I have killed it dead.  Poor little sourdough – it didn’t  even live long enough to acquire a name.

I’m hoping against hope that I just got one bad glass of water, and that it’s the cold weather making my sourdough sluggish.  Maybe it will all be alright in the morning.  Even if it isn’t, I have a frozen backup starter and a dry starter that I can try.

I still feel guilty, though.

Oh no! What happened to your water??

I don’t know! Maybe Yarra Valley Water was flushing the system or something? It’s fine now, of course.

My sourdough appears to have survived the night, but it’s a bit sluggish. I’m going to give it bottled water for its next feed, just to be on the safe side.
